05/09/26 Santagada Wins The T. Von Zastrow Stutenpreis, Gr.2 At Baden-Baden

Another terrific performance by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK graduate SANTAGADA

The 4yo filly SANTAGADA by SOLDIER HOLLOW once again showed her tremendous class and courage when winning the €70,000 Group 2 feature over 2,400 metres at Iffezheim on Saturday.

Owned by Gestüt Park Wiedingen, trained by Peter Schiergen and ridden by Bauyrzhan Murzabayev, SANTAGADA had to wait for room in the straight, but once the gap opened she produced a decisive turn of foot to win in great style from the French challenger Light The Ghost, with Innora finishing third.

It was a particularly satisfying success, as SANTAGADA had been unlucky in this race last year. This time, however, she got the opportunity to show her full ability and duly delivered, recording her sixth Group victory and her eighth career win from only 15 starts.

Bred by Gestüt Höny-Hof, SANTAGADA was prepared by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK at their farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN for the BBAG Yearling Sale, but had to be withdrawn due to registration issues. She has since developed into one of the most remarkable racemares in Germany in recent years.

For STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK, her continued success is another wonderful confirmation of the quality of horses that have gone through our hands and our system — and SANTAGADA continues to make us very proud.

04/09/26 BBAG Yearling Sale A Success Story For Stauffenberg Bloodstock

Physicals and Presentation Rewarded at BBAG

STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK enjoyed a particularly pleasing BBAG Yearling Sale, selling 9 of the 10 yearlings from the consignment, seven of them fillies.

The highlight was the CHALDEAN filly out of the unraced FIGLIA NERA, from the close family of Deutsches Derby winner FANTASTIC MOON — himself another STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK graduate from this sale. She realised €120,000 to Gestüt Brümmerhof, who purchased one of our graduates for the first time.

Although the consignment did not necessarily include the catalogue’s most fashionable pedigree pages, the yearlings spoke strongly for themselves. Their athleticism and good physicals, together with their immaculate condition and presentation, drew repeated positive comments from buyers and agents throughout the sale.

It was especially satisfying to see that appreciation reflected in the prices achieved. The yearlings sold more than pleasingly and the result is a great credit to the whole team. We are very grateful to all purchasers for their confidence and wish them every success with their new acquisitions.

19/08/26 Maltese Cross Powers Clear In The Great Voltigeur Stakes, Gr.2 At York

Another outstanding performance from our Group 1-winning pinhook

MALTESE CROSS produced another commanding performance today when running out an impressive winner of the Sky Bet Great Voltigeur Stakes, Gr.2, on the opening afternoon of York’s prestigious Ebor Festival.

Despite carrying a 5lb penalty for his Group 1 victory in the Grand Prix de Paris, the three-year-old son of SEA THE STARS travelled strongly throughout under Tom Marquand. After being settled just behind the leaders, he made smooth progress approaching the straight, took command two furlongs from home and stayed on powerfully to defeat Pierre Bonnard by two lengths. Derby winner Christmas Day finished a further two and a quarter lengths behind in third, as MALTESE CROSS emphatically reversed their Epsom form.

The performance provided further confirmation that MALTESE CROSS belongs among the leading three-year-old colts in Europe. Already successful in the Lingfield Derby Trial, L., runner-up in the Betfred Derby, Gr.1, and winner of the Grand Prix de Paris, Gr.1, he has now added one of Britain’s most important middle-distance trials to an exceptional record – his earnings have already passed €1.000.000.

Trainer William Haggas described the victory as “a proper Group 1 performance”, with both the Betfred St Leger, Gr.1, at Doncaster and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Gr.1, at ParisLongchamp remaining possible autumn targets.

Owned by George Waud and bred in France by Ecurie du Sud and Ecurie Gribomont, MALTESE CROSS was purchased by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK as a foal for €200,000 at the Arqana December Sale. He was subsequently raised and prepared at their farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN before being consigned to Tattersalls Book 1, where he was sold for 350,000 guineas to Hurworth Bloodstock on behalf of his present connections.

For all at STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK, today’s victory represents another deeply rewarding chapter in an extraordinary journey. From promising foal and successful pinhook to Derby runner-up and multiple Pattern-race winner, MALTESE CROSS continues to demonstrate exactly what the STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK programme aims to achieve.

We warmly congratulate owner George Waud, trainer William Haggas and his entire team, jockey Tom Marquand, his breeders and everyone connected with this exceptional colt.

16/08/26 Nariman Lands Valuable BBAG Auktionsrennen At Hannover

consigned and sold at the BBAG Yearling Sales

NARIMAN continued his strong upward curve with an impressive victory in the Großer Preis der VGH Versicherungen – BBAG Auktionsrennen at Hannover on 16 August. The three-year-old son of GLENEAGLES out of NITIKA made virtually all the running under Benjamin Marie and came home an easy two-length winner of the valuable €52,000 contest over 2,000 metres.

Owned by Darius Racing and trained by Waldemar Hickst, NARIMAN has really found his stride this summer. Following his maiden victory in Cologne at the beginning of August, he has now won both of his starts since being gelded.

The success is another pleasing one for STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK. Bred by Ursula and Jürgen Imm, NARIMAN was consigned at the 2024 BBAG Yearling Sale, where he was sold for €46,000 to HFTB Racing Agency on behalf of Darius Racing.

The standout graduate from that years draft is NOBLE LIPS, another offspring of GLENEAGLES, who confirmed her class when finishing an excellent third in the Preis der Diana – German Oaks, Gr.1

These are good adverts at the right time as STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK is consigning 10 yearlings at this years BBAG Yearling Sale on 4th of September.

It is always rewarding to see one of our sales graduates develop into a high-class performer, and NARIMAN’s authoritative success in one of Germany’s valuable BBAG Auktionsrennen was another very satisfying result. With two convincing victories in quick succession, there should be plenty more to look forward to from him.

Congratulations to Darius Racing, Waldemar Hickst, Benjamin Marie and all connections!

13/08/26 2yo Siena Storm Opens Her Account In A Valuable Class 2 Contest at Salisbury

The First Foal And First Winner Bred By The Stauffenberg Bloodstock Breeding Syndicate

2yo Siena Storm winning her Maiden at Salisbury

SIENA STORM created a landmark moment for STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK at Salisbury on Thursday evening, becoming the first winner bred by the STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK BREEDING SYNDICATE. The two-year-old daughter of NIGHT OF THUNDER out of SOUS LES ETOILES, by SEA THE STARS, landed the £40,000 Tattersalls EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes over one mile.

Trained by Ed Walker and ridden by Kieran Shoemark, SIENA STORM was sent off the 2/5 favourite following her promising debut fourth at Goodwood just a fortnight earlier. Held up at the rear during the early stages, she moved into contention over a furlong from home before taking the lead inside the final 110 yards. She showed an excellent attitude when challenged and held Clarity by half a length.

The victory carries particular significance, as SIENA STORM is not only the first foal bred by the STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK BREEDING SYNDICATE, but now also its first winner.

Her story began at the 2023 Tattersalls December Mare Sale, where her dam SOUS LES ETOILES was purchased for 210,000gns by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK, acting under DREAMLAND. The daughter of SEA THE STARS was carrying her first foal by NIGHT OF THUNDER at the time—the filly who would become SIENA STORM.

Raised on their stud at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN, SIENA STORM was offered at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, where she was bought back for 300,000gns. She was subsequently sold for 180,000gns at the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale before developing into a €600,000 Arqana Breeze Up graduate, purchased by Ed Sackville on behalf of TBT RACING.

With SIENA STORM now a winner, it looks as though dreams could indeed become reality for both this exciting filly and her dam. There is also plenty more to look forward to from SOUS LES ETOILES, who has a yearling filly by ZARAK due to be offered at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, a filly foal by MEHMAS and is currently in foal to MODERN GAMES.

From the purchase of SOUS LES ETOILES, through the birth and development of the Syndicate’s first foal, to an outstanding Breeze Up result and now a place in the winner’s enclosure, SIENA STORM has already provided the members of the STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK BREEDING SYNDICATE with a memorable journey. Her Salisbury success is a hugely rewarding milestone for everyone involved and an exciting endorsement of the Syndicate’s breeding programme.

Congratulations to her owners TBT RACING, trainer ED WALKER, jockey KIERAN SHOEMARK and everyone connected with SIENA STORM.

29/07/26 Flora Of Bermuda Shows Her Class And Courage In The Gr.3 Oak Tree Stakes At Glorious Goodwood

FLORA OF BERMUDA (Dark Angel – Dubai Power) continued her outstanding season with another richly deserved Group victory on 29 July, landing the Rolls-Royce Oak Tree Stakes, Gr.3 at Glorious Goodwood for Wathnan Racing, trainer Andrew Balding and jockey James Doyle.

Sent off the 5/2 favourite and carrying a 3lb penalty, the five-year-old mare was stepping up to seven furlongs for the first time. Doyle settled her behind the leaders and remained patient when racing room briefly became tight. Once switched into the clear, FLORA OF BERMUDA quickened with real purpose, took the lead inside the final furlong and displayed her familiar courage all the way to the line, holding off Sayidah Dariyan by a neck. Radiant Beauty finished just over a length further back in third.

The performance once again underlined everything we have come to admire about her: quality, determination, versatility and exceptional toughness. It was her second consecutive Gr.3 success following her victory in the Summer Stakes at York earlier in July and her third win from four starts this season. Three years after winning the Alice Keppel Fillies’ Conditions Stakes at the same meeting, she has now returned to Goodwood as an established and thoroughly deserving Group winner.

For all of us at STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK, every success achieved by FLORA OF BERMUDA is particularly rewarding. Bred by Francisco Bernal, she was pinhooked by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK, purchased for €60,000 at the Goffs November Foal Sale, raised and prepared on our farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN, and presented by us at the Arqana August Yearling Sale in Deauville, where she was sold to Longways Stables for €52,500.

She was never the biggest filly, and her yearling sale was commercially disappointing, but we always believed in her. In fact, we had to persuade Longways Stables to buy her at Arqana because we were convinced that beneath her relatively small frame was a filly with tremendous quality, grit and attitude.

Longways Stables subsequently developed her into an outstanding breeze-up prospect and resold her for £340,000 at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale. By then, nobody was concerned about her size anymore. She had demonstrated the qualities that truly matter, and those same qualities have continued to define her throughout a high-class racing career.

FLORA OF BERMUDA is not only a very good mare, but an exceptionally genuine and tough one. Time and again she has shown her willingness to fight, and her latest victory at one of the most prestigious meetings of the British racing season was another deserved reward for her consistency and courage.

To see a horse we selected, raised and prepared at our farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN continue to flourish on the international stage is what makes this business so special. She has become a wonderful representative of the Stauffenberg programme, and we could not be prouder of her.

Congratulations to Wathnan Racing, Andrew Balding, James Doyle and the entire team behind FLORA OF BERMUDA on another excellent Group victory.

18/07/26 Symbol of Honour delivers a brilliant success in the Hackwood Stakes, Gr.3

and becomes the 3rd Groupwinner in the last 10 days for Stauffenberg Bloodstock

SYMBOL OF HONOUR produced a top-class performance at Newbury today, taking the Gr. 3 Hackwood Stakes over six furlongs in the Godolphin blue.

Ridden with confidence by William Buick, the four-year-old took command two furlongs from home and stayed on strongly to score by a length and a quarter. Trained by Charlie Appleby, the son of Havana Grey out of Arcamist was returning to the course and distance where he had already enjoyed Stakes success, and he confirmed once again what a high-class and durable sprinter he is.

Bred by Whitsbury Manor Stud, SYMBOL OF HONOUR was pinhooked by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK for 250,000 guineas at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale. Raised and prepared at their farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN, he was resold ten months later at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 for 600,000 guineas to Godolphin.

It is immensely rewarding to see a horse we liked from the first moment we saw him continue to perform at this level. A further Group victory for SYMBOL OF HONOUR underlines not only his exceptional ability, but also the value of patience, development and giving a quality young horse every chance to fulfil his potential.

2026 is already proofing to become a fantastic year for Stauffenberg Bloodstock and it’s team

The results achieved by the graduates of STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK continue to underline the importance of quality, individual care and a long-term approach to developing thoroughbreds.

Across the 2021 to 2023 crops, an average of 26.5% have already become Black Type performers. These figures are particularly encouraging given the deliberately selective and relatively small number of horses raised at Itlingen each year.

The 2023 crop, now three-year-olds, is proving especially exceptional. 7 of its 18 members — an outstanding 39% — are already Black Type horses. It is a remarkable return at this stage of their careers and a powerful indication of the depth of quality within the crop.

The headline horse is undoubtedly MALTESE CROSS. Pinhooked by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK and raised at their farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN, the son of Sea The Stars first produced a sensational performance when finishing second in the Betfred Derby, Gr.1 at Epsom. He has now taken that promise to another level, producing a courageous, top-class display to win the Gr. 1 Grand Prix de Paris at ParisLongchamp. His rise has been an extraordinary moment for everyone connected with the operation.

SALONGLAENZENDE , prepped and consigned by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK became a new Stakes winner for this generation as well with her emphatic victory in the BBAG Diana Trial at Mülheim, L.. Other Black Type Performer from the 2023 crop are ALARMING, GIORGIA, NOBLE LIPS, RIDERINTHESKY and STIMULATIVE TRIP.

The strength of the 2026 results, however, extends well beyond the 2023 generation. FLORA OF BERMUDA, another STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK pinhook raised and prepared at their farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN, has added both the Ellen Chaloner Stakes, L. at Newmarket and the Summer Stakes, Gr.3 at York to her outstanding record.

SANTAGADA, who went through the yearling prep of the team, has again demonstrated her class and consistency, opening her season with victory in the Hannoverscher Stutenpreis, L. before producing another excellent performance to finish second in the Grosser Hansa Preis, Gr.2 at Hamburg, while fellow graduate WIKINGER added another Listed success for the operation in the Casino Baden-Baden Silberne Peitsche, L..

These achievements are the result of a philosophy which has always placed quality ahead of quantity. With a carefully managed number of horses, our aim is to provide every individual with the attention, time and environment required to develop into the best athlete it can be.

14/07/26 Maltese Cross Crowns A Remarkable Journey With Group 1 Glory In Paris

a fantastic result result for our operation

MALTESE CROSS gave STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK one of their proudest moments when producing a courageous, top-class performance to win the Cygames Grand Prix de Paris, Gr.1, at ParisLongchamp.

In a thrilling finish over 2,400 metres, Tom Marquand found the vital gap at exactly the right moment and MALTESE CROSS showed all the determination and class that have marked his career to date. The William Haggas-trained son of SEA THE STARS fought his way to the front to win by a head for owner George Waud.

Already winner of the Lingfield Derby Trial, L. and such a gallant second in the Betfred Derby. Gr.1 at Epsom, MALTESE CROSS has now turned Classic promise into Group 1 success. It was a victory earned the hard way—and one which makes it all the more memorable.

Bred in France by Ecurie du Sud and Ecurie Gribomont, Maltese Cross was bought as a STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK pinhook at Arqana December and raised and prepped at their farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN before beimh consigned and sold at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales to Hurworth Bloodstock on behalf of his owner.

From the initial judgement to buy him, through the daily care, patience and preparation required to allow a young horse to thrive, his journey represents exactly what our operation seeks to achieve.

To see a horse we believed in at such an early stage win a Group 1 is a tremendous reward for everyone involved: his breeders, owner George Waud, trainer William Haggas and his team, our partners, and the team at STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK.

MALTESE CROSS is a wonderful advertisement for our model—and a reminder that, with the right horse, the right people and a great deal of commitment, the journey from young prospect to Group 1 winner can become reality.

12/07/26 3yo Salonglaenzende Impressive In BBAG Diana Trial And Now One Of The Leading Fillies For The German Oaks

another Black Type winning graduate of Stauffenberg Bloodstock

STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK graduate SALONGLAENZENDE produced an emphatic performance at Mülheim on Sunday, running out an easy 3¾-length winner of the €30,000 BBAG Diana Trial, L. over 2,000 metres.

Ridden by David Liska for trainer Pavel Vovcenko, the three-year-old daughter of GLENEAGLES out of SALONLOVE defeated Aida decisively and confirmed herself as an exciting contender for the Preis der Diana, Gr.1, the German Oaks. The Mülheim contest was the final trial for the Classic, which will be staged at Düsseldorf on 2 August.

Bred and owned by Gestüt Wittekindshof, SALONGLAENZENDE is the first foal out of the Listed-winning mare SALONLOVE. She was prepared at our stud farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN and consigned by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK at the Goffs Orby Sale. Retained by her breeder when she did not sell, she had already advertised her ability with a decisive maiden victory at Dortmund as a two-year-old. She has now taken the important next step by becoming a Listed winner and securing valuable Black Type for her family.

Her story is particularly rewarding for us because it underlines that the true value of professional sales preparation is not measured by the auction result alone. Our objective is to present every young horse in the best possible physical and mental condition, giving it the foundation to continue developing and fulfil its potential on the racecourse.

SALONGLAENZENDE is another compelling endorsement of that work—and another Stakes winner to emerge from a STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK sales prep.

Congratulations to Gestüt Wittekindshof, Pavel Vovcenko, David Liska and everyone involved with this talented filly. We look forward to following her at the German Oaks at Düsseldorf.
