12/12/15 2yo GWENDOLYN wins her Maiden with 6 length

now 4 winners from 5 runners from the 2014 crop in GB/IRE

981Gwendolynkl.jpgThe 2yo filly GWENDOLYN (Invincible Spirit-GOLDEN WHIP) won her Maiden with 6 length, something neither her dam GOLDEN WHIP nor her granddam GENEVRA were ablte to, but became multiple stakes winners at 3. In spring her former trainer Roger Varian described her at his filly for the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, but not everything went according to plan. However now her first start for trainer Richard Cowell showed that she really might be up for better targets. GWENDOLYN is bred by Graf und Grafin Stauffenberg at their SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN and was sold through STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales to David Redvers, who was acting on behalf of Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Suhaim and Qatar Racing Ltd.

For STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK the result of GWENDOLYN means that now 4 out of the 5 2yo runners in the UK and Ireland are winners - the others being GOLDEN PEARL, ROCKAWAY VALLEY and SHABAR. The fifth starter is CALLAGHAN who narrowly failed to win at Kempton last time out.

GWENDOLYN is the first foal out of GOLDEN WHIP, the best offspring Graf und Grafin Stauffenberg bred out of GENEVRA, which they purchased back in 1995 at the Goffs Challenge Sale as one of their first yearlings.
