good results lifted the first time consignor in the headlines

The extremely good results from the Tattersalls October Sales Book I augured well for the following Book II and the first day started with fireworks and continued strong for the whole week. Many people failed to buy in the first week, so many agents and trainers were keen to fill their orders or get young good stock into their yards.

STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK had four yearlings to consign over the three days, two of them on the first day. First of them was Lot 547, a colt by HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR out of SHARAPOVA. Purchased for GNS70.000 at the Tattersalls December Foal Sales for a pinhooking syndicate last year and raised and prepped at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN, the bay colt made GNS165.000 this time being knocked down to Patrick Cooper of the BBA Ireland on behalf of an american client.

Highlight of the first day not only for STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK was then Lot 671, a chestnut colt by SHAMARDAL out of VIA MILANO. Prepped at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN on behalf of his breeder, the Haras de Saint Pair, the colt made GNS370.000 when purchased by John Ferguson on behalf of Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum, fending of Alastair Donald, who was trying hard to buy the brother to Gr. 3 winner VIA MEDICI and promising 2yo VIA MANZONI on behalf of a Hong Kong client. This colt became the highest prized colt of Book II at the Tattersalls October Sales since 2008.

Next in the ring was Lot 981 a homebred filly by Graf und Grafin Stauffenberg already named GWENDOLYN. Being by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT out of GOLDEN WHIP she was sold for GNS 75.000, but "robbed at that prize", so described by David Redvers on behalf of HH Sheikh Fahad al Thani.

Last of the consignment of STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK in the ring was Lot 1212, a colt by KODIAC out of NAMIBIA. Prepped at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN, the colt was sold on behalf of his breeder, the Haras de Saint Pair to Grove Stud for GNS75.000.

The average of the sale was GNS64,478, but with the average of GNS167,500 became the leading vendor of those who offered more than one yearling. Quite an achievement for the first time vendor from Germany
